Eyelid and Eyebrow Surgery

Eyelid Surgery

The physicians at Premier Medical perform a variety of procedures designed to improve the upper eyelid appearance and functionality of the upper and lower eyelids.

Dermatochalasis

Dermatochalasis can be a functional problem when drooping skin obstructs the superior visual field.  From a cosmetic standpoint, a fullness or heaviness of the upper eyelids, “bags” and wrinkles in the lower eyelids are reported.

Entropion

Entropion is a condition in which the eyelid turns inward, causing the eyelashes to constantly rub against the cornea. Entropion may be repaired tightening the lower eyelid.

Ectropion

Ectopion is an outward turning of the eyelid.  This results in chronic exposure of the eye which can lead to serious corneal problems.  While mild cases can be treated with artificial eye lubrication, surgery is recommended for more severe cases.

 Eyebrow Surgery

A forehead lift or “brow lift” is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes.  It corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal creases and furrows across the forehead that can make a person appear angry, sad or tired.

The procedure is most commonly performed to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows, and minimize the visible effects of aging.   Individuals with inherited conditions, such as a low, heavy brow or furrowed lines above the nose can achieve a more alert and refreshed look with this procedure. Sometimes, patients who believe they need upper eyelid surgery find that a forehead lift better meets their goals.

Patients who are bald, have a receding hairline, or have had previous upper-eyelid surgery may still be good candidates for forehead lift.

Consult your Premier Medical physician to decide if you are a candidate for a brow lift and what surgical option is right for you.
