Throat

Otolaryngologists manage the diseases of the throat, including the larynx (voice box) and the upper aero-digestive tract or esophagus, and voice and swallowing disorders.

Disorders of the throat can be a mere nuisance or a major ordeal. Tonsillitis, voice disorders, and even hoarseness all interfere with our ability to communicate. Many of these conditions can be improved or corrected with the care of an ENT physician at Premier Medical.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when acid from the stomach backs up into the esophagus. ENT’s have extensive experience with the tools that diagnose GERD and specialize in its treatment.

Common issues that affect the voice are acute and chronic laryngitis, and vocal cord paralysis, “nodes”, and benign lesions.

Cancers of the throat include laryngeal and hypopharyngeal, malignancies that start in the lower part of the throat and affect the larynx and pharynx.
